Grade 9 CTF
The grade nine CTF curriculum is fairly open-ended; I expect at the grade nine level that we will be able to engage in activities which include: 1. Welding 2. Small Engines 3.Bicycle/Auto Maintenance 4.Design studies related to modes and mechanisms.5.Safe work practices.
Our curriculum will look something like this:
https://education.alberta.ca/teachers/program/ctf/
The CTF curriculum is a competency-focused curriculum that introduces students to the Career and Technology Studies (CTS) occupational areas through engaging learning experiences. Learning experiences in CTF emphasize the use of skills such as creativity, communication and problem-solving in response to challenges. CTF supports interdisciplinary learning opportunities and connections between the community and the school.
CTF facilitates the development of relevant, meaningful and engaging learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of students and the community. The program is designed to allow students in grades 5 to 9 to explore their interests, passions and skills while making personal connections to career possibilities through meaningful learning experiences connected to occupational areas. In doing so, students develop competencies within the contexts of business, communication, human services, resources and technology. CTF skills, along with numeracy and literacy skills, are fundamental to your child’s success in school and beyond the classroom.
